Most of us only eat cereal in the morning, but according to a study at Wayne State University in Detroit, cereal before BED might be a good idea too.
The study found that people who ate cereal before they went to sleep lost an average of two pounds in one month. People who DIDN’T only lost about half-a-pound on average. Here are three more reasons late-night snacking might not be as bad as you think.
1. A Glass of Milk 30 Minutes Before Bed Helps You Put On Muscle. But only after you’ve worked out in the evening. Scientists in the Netherlands found that the main protein in milk . . . casein (pronounced kay-seen) . . . helped build muscle.
2. A Late-Night Snack Can Increase Your Metabolism. A study at Florida State found that when guys who were in shape had a 150-calorie snack before bed, their resting metabolism in the morning was higher than it was with no snack at all. Meaning, the snack kept their metabolism going and made them burn more calories throughout the night.
3. You Wake Up Less Hungry. And when that happens, you’re less likely to eat a big unhealthy breakfast, or stuff yourself at lunch. According to the same Florida State study, the type of food you eat before bed doesn’t really matter. But if you’re trying to build muscle, something high in protein is best.
