THE BOSTON MARATHON TRAGEDY: 5 WAYS YOU CAN HELP

(YourTango.com) Find out how to send your love to those affected by the tragic event. Last Monday’s Boston Marathon bombings were absolutely heartbreaking. Three people were killed and over 170 were injured at the finish-line explosions. But through pictures, social media and news reports, people near and far were able to witness the many acts of kindness that took place that day. From the first responders, brave runners and spectators who helped others escape the scene to Google’s public spreadsheet that helped those stranded find a place to stay, there were a lot of heroes who came to the rescue to help those in need. So how can you send your love? See five easy ways below.

1. The Salvation Army
The Salvation Army is providing support to survivors and first responders from the tragedy by setting up canteens around the city and providing emotional support. You can donate clothes, food, gift cards or make a financial contribution to their Boston Marathon Relief Fund.

2. The One Fund
Governor Patrick and Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino created The One Fund fund to help people most affected by the bombings. “I am humbled by the outpouring of support by the business community and individuals who are united in their desire to help; The One Fund Boston will act as a central fund to receive much needed financial support,” said Governor Patrick. 3. New England Patriots
The Kraft family will match $100,000 in donations to assist the recovery of victims from the tragic event.

4. Boston Marathon: The Last 5
Live near the Boston area? Join Boston College as they walk from the campus into Boston as they honor those who lost their lives, were injured or didn’t get to finish the race. The walk is currently being rescheduled from Friday but the group’s motto remains: “We will walk to show that we decide when our marathon ends.” Join the Facebook event here.

5. Run for Boston 2014
To show support and love for the marathoners, CNN is asking people all across the country to come together and pledge to run or walk a race of any distance by the 2014 Boston Marathon. Log your miles and share your story on the Run For Boston website and follow along with the hashtag #RunForBoston.
