“Pick a Name-Any Name, That’s a Long War and Everybody Vote!!”

The chain restaurant Smith & Wollensky got its name when the founder opened up the phone book and randomly picked two people’s last names.  The founder was a guy named Alan Stillman, and no one named Smith or Wollensky was ever involved.

The Hundred Years’ War between England and France really lasted 116 years:  From 1337 to 1453.

The 1876 presidential election had the highest voter turnout of any election in history . . . 81.8% of Americans voted.  It also had the smallest margin of victory ever.  Rutherford B. Hayes beat Samuel Tilden by only one electoral vote.
