WAXX Cares

WAXX Cares Olson Solar

WAXX Cares provides support to charities in Northwestern Wisconsin!

WAXX Cares is a charity fund designed to give support and awareness to local non-profit organizations. Our mission is to highlight the good works happening locally. Each month we’ll feature a different organization and show how their services impact the area.

THIS MONTH:

WAXX Cares is teaming up with Amundson's Appliance Home Center to find and help out a family with children, going through a tough time, in need of a new washer and dryer set in their home. Thank you to Amundson’s Appliance for providing the appliances, as well as delivering and installing them!

PREVIOUS PROJECTS:

There are an estimated 40,000 homeless veterans in the country with 2,500 of them living in Wisconsin and Minnesota.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace of Chippewa County

Child bedlessness is a national problem, and as a national nonprofit with chapters spread across the country, SHP has provided the solution. They are a volunteer organization that builds beds for kids who are sleeping on the floor and there are multiple ways to get involved right here on our WI-Chippewa Co page.

So many great charities provide clothing, meals, and toys to families in need. But as wonderful as this aid is, few organizations offer suitable beds and bedding to the kids in these families.

At SHP, they fully believe that a bed is a basic need for the proper physical, emotional, and mental support that a child needs. When it was brought to their attention that the need for beds went far beyond our own neighborhoods, they stepped up and took initiative.

If a child needs a bed, they want to make sure they get one. No kid sleeps on the floor in our town.

The King’s Closet is a FREE clothing store located in downtown Eau Claire, WI. Beginning in October 2010, The King’s Closet hosted several neighborhood clothing giveaways in Eau Claire. Through these events they were made aware of how great the need is in our community and that having clothes available more often would be a great benefit.  So in the spring of 2012, they became The King’s Closet – Chippewa Valley, Inc. and moved into their current facility at 310 South Barstow Street in downtown Eau Claire. Since then, their volunteers have been very busy sorting clothing donations and meeting the needs of our community.

For our first “WAXX Cares” project - WNB Financial & WAXX 104.5 are teaming up to help We Care Eau Claire!

“We Care Eau Claire” is a community event where local churches and the Eau Claire Area School District are working together to provide school supplies for children who are on the reduced or free lunch program. We are teaming up to serve 20% or 2,000 children!

It’s a big undertaking…But, together we can each do a little, or a lot, to help!
